Bright Eye Media: The Digital Visions of Jason Cranford Teague
Pixcetera is consistently one of the top photo-journalism Web sites, aggregating photo galleries from the dozens of MediaGlow properties.
As the Director of Web Design Standards for MediaGlow, I am responsible for redesigning Pixcetera using the best possible Web standards, while still giving it an exciting new look and feel.
RED is AOL's Youth Culture Web site, drawing 3 million unique visitors a month, making it one of the most popular teen content sites on the Web.
As the Design Director for RED, I supervised its launch from an AOL only property onto the Web. I developed the UI and look and feel for the site based on internal audience research and user testing. Over the year that this site was live, we were able to double traffic and page views as well as significantly increase traffic from search engines.
This version of the site is no longer available.
In 2007, RED wanted to redesign to take advantage of new technologies being offered by AOL. Although never completed due to restructuring within the company, these designs formed the basis for RED's future plans.
As the Creative Director with RED, I supervised a team of designers to create mood boards, wireframes, UI documentation, and visual comps to show a next generation of the RED Web site.
This version of the site was not launched.
RED wanted to create a custom Web site, to show off the latest Prom Fashions, for 2007. With the help of the interactive agency iNDELIBLE, we created an interactive story narrative, where the audience could dip in and out of the story line to get details about the clothes the models are wearing.
As the Design Director with RED, I defined the initial creative vision and then supervised all aspects of the UI and visual design of this product in conjunction with iNDELIBLE.
Comics publisher SpaceDog and AOL RED co-produced the comic book Balance & Grace (previously know as The Innocents). RED created and supported an online version of the comic book, producing a fully functional comic book reader unlike any other available online.
As the Creative Director for RED, I defined the creative vision and then supervised all aspects of the UI and visual design of this product in conjunction with a hired vendor.
Yuri's Night is an international festival with events staged around the world to celebrate the first manned space flight of Yuri Gagarin on April 12th, 1961. The Yuri's Night Web site is where all parties are registered, where anyone can find a party, and where resources for the parties can be found.
As the Internet Strategist for Yuri's Night, I am responsible for all aspects of the organization's presence on the Web including the design and development of the main Web site, as well as other marketing activities and social networking.
Loretta Hidalgo and George Whitesides will be the first honeymooners in Space when they launch on one of the first Virgin Galactic Flights later this decade. To chronicle these events, they will be keeping a regular blog called Space Love.
Loretta asked me to design the site for them and help her launch it. With no budget, we were able to leverage the free WordPress software to use and then create a unique design which incorporates a fixed footer at the bottom of the page.
Blake's 7, the classic British space-opera TV Show, was recently brought back to life as a series of audio adventures, with plans to reboot the series on TV and beyond.
B7 Media approached me to design a site to not only market and sell the audio adventures, but give the new media initiatives a future home.
"Jason's approach to teaching Web designers about CSS is THE BEST I've experienced — he speaks in designer language." — Allison Bucchere, Vice President + Creative Director, AOL Living Network
A crash course in the design language used to create Web pages. Students can start with little or no knowledge of core Web technologies, and will come out with the ability to "read" CSS.
Apply your CSS skills to produce professional and cutting edge Web sites. Students start with the fundamentals, creating a variety of layout grids with CSS, and move on to advanced Web typography, creating interactive controls, and using design enhancements to set their sites apart from the pack.
